Someone suggested the Otter application in a Facebook group I’ve recently joined. I was discussing the fact that I wanted to take part in Camp Nano over April. However, I didn’t think this was going to be possible. I wasn’t physically in a position to be sitting in front of my laptop, nor did I have the time.
I have a five week old baby. I’m recovering from having given birth, and I have three other children under the age of eight. Life is full and it is busy.
So I looked this application up. It’s an audio transcription app. So ultimately, you talk, it records and transcribes what you say. This blog post has been put together with the use of Otter.
Yes, I need to edit the text – it’s not 100% correct based on what I say. However, it is very close. And it is much easier for me to talk for a minute, (which is what this post is so far) or two, and then have that transcribed into text and for me to be able to edit that text.
Otter Application and April CampNano News
For those of you who love to write and want something that you can use, that is handy on your phone, I highly recommend the application Otter. I’m using the free version. This gives me about 600 minutes per month to be able to have transcribed from audio.
There is a pro version as well. Definitely check it out. It’s something that you can use on the go and a minute or two of talking can give you a few hundred words, even if you’re talking at a slow steady pace.
To me it has been a game changer for April where I’ve had one to two minute blocks where I can just get out an idea or a scene for my next Free Rein book. So far I have ‘penned’ nearly 14,000 words over April for Free Rein 16. And this has all been made possible with the use of the Otter application.
[…] say that I have started it! I took part in CampNano in April and completed a whole Free Rein book via audio transcription using Otter. I was rapt to ‘write’ a book around looking after the newest addition to our family! […]
