2020 Isn’t a Write Off

I am based in Victoria. So current news has let us know that things are changing again – and remote schooling is about to recommence for us regional areas. Now I work 4 days a week and am a mother to 3 young children full time, so things are about to get busier 😉
Sure, I haven’t visited my parents in months and there are a lot of things I cannot do currently, but there is much I can do and continue to do!
 
  1. I finished CampNano, penning 40,000+ words and finishing Free Rein #10.
  2. My kids are healthy and happy and we have a big back yard they can enjoy time in as we have beautiful winter weather currently.
  3. We are in a position to homeschool and my husband and I get to be home with our little ones.

2020 Isn’t a Write Off

Although 2020 has been very unexpected, it has not been a write off and I will continue to write and publish (as time permits!). And on that note… remember my goal to publish a book a month for 2020? Well, I finished Free Rein #10 early into CampNano and was super excited! Then my laptop died. So the next Free Rein book is complete but stuck on my hard drive for now. When possible I will retrieve the file and publish the novel but I am accepting that my July release may occur in August or even September… 🙂 Although I work hard to stick to goals that I have set, I have learnt to let this one go.  It’s not the end of the world that I didn’t get a book published in July.  It is enough that I completed a novel over this time and made great progress on another of my novels.  No, 2020 isn’t a write off at all.

Back it up!

Although yesterday I was about 7000 words behind my Nanowrimo goal for July’s Camp Nano, this was ok! I wrote over my daily required word count for the past two days, had finished Free Rein 10 and unexpectedly, the Horse Missionary was progressing again. Whoop!

However, this may be all irrelevant. My laptop died last night (interesting fact, this is the same laptop that I wrote Horse Country on!).

And at this point it’s not cooperating about coming back on! Now with a few of the recent books I have made great strides with this month, I am sad to say that they haven’t been backed up recently!!! So my relatively successful July of writing so far could be lost… a lot of prayer happening this end that my clever hubby can at least get the laptop to boot up long enough for me to copy files to a usb!

Read and Write

I have come to the conclusion recently that I read like I write.  Perhaps, you do too?  I have a lot of books on the go currently.  Some of these I read a little a day, such as my bible and any devotional/s I may be reading.  Others, I pick up and get started and then find that another book draws my attention, or something else needs to be read for reviewing and so those that I have started, wait a little longer to be finished.  And then there are some that I pick up and devour in a matter of days.  And it seems, that I write like this, too! Read and write.

Free Rein #10 to be titled Selah had been barely started at the end of June.  Then the last week leading up to Camp Nano, it became two thirds written.  Then 8 days into a month of planned dedicated writing, and it was finished!  I love it when that happens.  It took me ten years to complete my debut novel Horse Country and two weeks to write the first two books in the Free Rein series.  But some books are like that!

I have many, many books on the go at one time and it’s always nice to bring one to completion!  That said, I have admitted before that I love starting a new book as this is often when I get the most written in one session.

Read and Write

So I’ve finished Free Rein #10 which was my goal for this month and I have progressed a little with the Chemistry of Horses as I also had planned.  But a new novel idea formed and I have penned 2500 words for this whilst also adding to E and E, a follow on story from my Christian Horse Romance B and B.

So to continue in line with my plan to release a book a month in 2020, stay tuned!  The plan is to publish Selah this month and hopefully have something else to bring to the public for August.  I’m just not sure if that’ll be the Chemistry of Horses, E and E or a new novel that is yet waiting to be written… 😀

Free Rein #10 Progressing

It’s now a week into Camp NaNo. I’m pleased to say that the next book in the Free Rein series is progressing well!  The last few days of June I was able to power ahead with this novel.  It went from around one third written to almost two thirds in a matter of days!  Now the book to be titled Selah (Free Rein #10) is about 80% done.

I am so thankful for the days that allow me to write a lot and make real progress; it makes the slower days ok!  The first day of Camp Nano resulted in a 0 word count total for me.  In spite of this, 4 days later I was ahead of my goal by close to 500 words – yay!

I plan to focus on and finish Selah (Free Rein #10) and then will turn my attention to continuing with the last Camp Nano creation – the Chemistry of Horses.  Stay tuned!

A June Release and Free ARCs

Well we’re very close to the end of June and I am pleased to say that I have a June release!  (Remember my goal to release one book a month in 2020?) Refuge (Christian Horse Romance) is available on pre-order (affiliate link) and due to be released tomorrow, June 29. Phew! It’s so pleasing to get this one out to the public for the month of June 🙂
