It’s the last evening of National Novel Writing Month tonight. This month has been a wonderfully productive month for me in relation to writing! As you may have already read on this blog, I finished the fifteenth book in the Free Rein Series. I’m in the process of editing this and have the cover nearly sorted, so will share news in December about it’s release – stay tuned! 🙂
NaNoWriMo and 2 Novels Complete | ChristineMeunierAuthor.com
Back in May of this year, I had an idea for a new young adult series. It wasn’t until NaNoWriMo that I started to progress this story, and amazingly, finish the first book, too! A week and a half into NaNoWriMo 2021, the next Free Rein book was complete. Then just over three weeks into the challenge, I finished the first book of my new Young Adult series, The Bridge Next Door!
After this I progressed further with a follow on book from Wealthy Christians, to be titled Solomon12, as well as the second book in The Bridge Next Door, which is now around 2/3 complete at 13,000 words and 8 chapters written. And today on the last day of National Novel Writing Month, I am pleased to have hit my 50,000 word goal (a day early) and have started the first chapter of the third book in this new series.

I am very pleased to say that National Novel Writing Month for 2021 has been a huge success! The writing goal was met as well as two novels completed. This is putting things well on track for early releases in 2022! 🙂
I’m rapt to share here that I’ve just finished typing the last words of the next Free Rein book! I love National Novel Writing Month and CampNano and often have the goal of at least finishing a novel I’m currently working on, as well as progressing another one or two! This month’s focus was two-fold:
– completing 50,000 words over the month of November and amongst this,
– finishing off the next Free Rein book to release in time for Christmas.
Well this goal has been achieved tonight, 1.5 weeks into November and I am very pleased that is the case! I’ll continue to work toward the 50,000 word goal for the rest of this month. Once NaNoWriMo is over, the focus will turn to editing Free Rein #15 ‘Fifteen’ and finalising the cover.

The best laid plans don’t always come to fruition, but that’s okay. By day 8 of NaNoWriMo, I had typed close to 14,000 words and was around 600 ahead of schedule for the 50,000 goal – nice!
Last night I prepared to write, added one word to what I had written the night before and then wasn’t in a position to continue. Although now behind schedule – last night focused instead on enjoying some reading and my bible – and I think was beneficial to tonight’s progress!
Today the way to finish writing Fifteen came to me and it was easy to complete this last chapter. So I’ve written nearly 2,000 words today and although close to 700 words behind my overall target, I am stopping for the evening and counting this as a win.
My first goal has been achieved: Free Rein #15 is complete. Tomorrow night I can focus on Solomon12 or the Chemistry of Horses and progress one of these that bit closer to a finished book! Stay tuned for a cover reveal and news of the next Free Rein book being released on Kindle 🙂
This is just a short post to just provide an update on November’s writing progress so far. As we came into November, I’d indicated that I planned to work on Free Rein #15, the Chemistry of Horses and Solomon 12. At the end of last month I had penned just over
– 5,600 words for Free Rein #15,
– 22,000 for the Chemistry of Horses
– and just under 1000 for Solomon 12

Now 6 days into National Novel Writing Month, I’ve typed another 8,000 words of the Free Rein book and close to 2000 words for Solomon 12. Free Rein #15 is just over 2/3 written and close to 10,000 words have been written in total. Things are travelling along quite nicely!

Gearing up for Another NaNoWriMo | ChristineMeunierAuthor.com
November is fast around the corner! It felt to me like the world held it’s breath in 2020, waiting for it to pass, as if 2021 would be our ‘get out of jail free’ card in regard to Coronavirus. Definitely not the case! And yet, we seem to have settled into a ‘new normal’ and it feels that 2021 is flying by! So here I am once again preparing for another National Novel Writing Month – and quite excited by the idea!
2021 has been a ‘slow’ year for me, when it comes to publishing books. Last year I had an incredibly successful writing year, publishing 10 books in 12 months. I made the decision to ‘do less in 2021‘ and have achieved this from a writing perspective.
I’ve still had plenty of other projects on the go! But from a publishing angle, I have released three books in 2021:
It is my plan to focus on three books in the upcoming NaNoWriMo – the Chemistry of Horses, Free Rein #15 and a non-fiction book Solomon 12, along a similar vein to Wealthy Christians. I hope to finish the next Free Rein book and publish this in time for Christmas.
