Exodus 34:21 – ‘On the seventh day you shall rest.’
It is perfectly fine to desire to have wealth and to put in the hard work to receive this. It is not ok to spend every waking moment focused on this. God should always come first. Our relationship with him and learning what he would have us do with our lives should be priority. Even then, he demands that we take one day out of seven to rest.
If you are struggling to fit everything in, then pray that God would guide you about working wisely and effectively. Then be sure to prioritise tasks on your journey to wealth. Do first those things that are most pressing, or what will take the longest time to generate a return.
Acknowledge that some items on your to do list are wants, rather than needs and be ok with the fact that they may not get done this week and will have to wait that little bit longer.
Try not to waste time on fruitless activities, or spend more time on things than are
necessary. For example, do you need to check your emails every hour or would once during the day suffice? When you’re having a coffee break, could you also be stretching your legs or getting some fresh air? Try to multitask where you can but also learn to switch off from work.
It is my prayer for you:
- That you will recognise the importance of rest and take action to give yourself one day a week where your focus isn’t work.
- That you will find ways to be efficient with your time 6 days a week, so that you’re able to work towards your wealth goals regularly.
- That you will put your relationship with God first, always.
Today’s prayer:
Lord I thank you that you have commanded that we take the time to rest regularly. Help me to prioritise this. I know that I am more effective if I look after my body by resting regularly.
Actionable ideas:
Look out for sales and prepare for them; save up for and buy in bulk during sale times so that you’re saving money on items you regularly use.
