Hi everyone! I have recently redesigned the covers for my Thoroughbred Breeders series. This was a part of some suggestions received from someone in my family who is doing really well with their novels.
So the covers now feature a person on them that could resemble Savannah, the female protagonist. I’m not a graphic designer by any means, but I do create my own covers. I am slowly learning different effects in Photoshop and love to be able to include photos from my work as a stud hand. I truly loved that season of my life when it was occurring and a lot of what I learned and experienced as a stud hand I impart into the books I write.
I still remember capturing the shot of the chestnut filly foal cantering in one of the images in this cover for New Blood! I can picture the paddock that the cantering mares and foals in the background were in. Great memories 🙂
The best books I feel are those that are believable. For me, this comes through writing what I know, have studied and experienced. It’s important to me that horse books are realistic and I try to achieve this in my novels. That said, I enjoy a good fantasy horse story, too! It’ll be interesting to see if this series gains more readers with the new covers 🙂
