2020 has been an eventful, exhausting year. I’m the kind of person who loves to set goals and works hard to achieve them by the self-imposed deadline. And this year has followed that pattern. But there have been plenty of other variables to navigate.
I am blessed to work in education, teaching about my favourite subject: horses. So with Coronavirus this year, our family was so very thankful to not lose income. An added blessing is that my husband stays home full time whilst I work part time. Suddenly 2020 was looking a little different:
- still working 4 days a week
- spending my lunch time and after hours to guide our daughter through her first year of school
- trying to complete my work duties around pre-school aged children who feel that mum at home must mean it’s time to play with her!
I’ve met my Goodreads goal for 2020 – the most books I’ve read in a year, and that’s no doubt thanks to the 1000 books before 5 challenge I have taken on for our 2 year old and our daughter learning to read in school and having to read many books with/to her parents. It’s easy to try to read a little more the following year – I’ve done that for previous Goodreads challenges. But why? Why not instead make the effort to read books I have – at home – and on Kindle before I go seeking others? I’m going to slow down with my reading in 2021.
This year I wrote and . I’m rapt! But next year I’m going to continue enjoy writing and publishing but not push myself to release a new book a month. In 2021 I’m going to do less but enjoy more at a slower pace. What is 2021 going to look like for you? published 10 books in 12 months
