July was a busy, busy, busy month for me! I picked up full time work for the month on top of attempting a Camp Nano challenge of penning 50,000 words. Oh, and did I mention I have a husband and 3 kids under 5? ๐
It is amazing to me how different taking part in Camp Nano for 2019 was to doing so for 2018.
In 2018 I set the audacious goal of penning 90,000 words – a trilogy known as Insular. It came down to the wire where the night of July 31 at about 10pm I was working hard to hit my goal as I knew I wouldn’t achieve it otherwise!
And ain’t that the truth! Not only was July 31 the last day of the month, but about an hour after penning the last words (just over 90,000, whoop!) my water’s broke and 5 hours later I had a newborn son. So there was no time to focus on completing that trilogy if I hadn’t hit the predetermined deadline!
Fast forward 12 months and I set a goal of 50,000 that I didn’t quite reach. But hey, 46,000 words across a few different novels I have in the works isn’t bad!
I had planned to also proof read the latest Thoroughbred Breeders’ book that I wrote back in Camp Nano in April but alas, that didn’t occur. Just such a busy month! I’m thankful my writing progressed but am trying to remember that I can’t always do all I aim to. And that is ok, things are progressing and that’s the most important. So stay tuned for future releases ๐
